Graduating high school in 1984, David Puthoff, the owner of Ohio TeleCom wanted to get into the emerging technology industry with more of a hands on approach. After trying his hand at a formal education he joined the Navy in the summer of ’85 and volunteered for the submarine service.

Arriving on the USS Sunfish in Nov ’85 he joined the Interior Communications Division (IC Div.) until August of ’89. The IC div was in charge of all interior communications, telephones, speakers, lighting fans and atmosphere control and he received training on how to troubleshoot and repair those systems.

Onboard the Sunfish he was involved in many special operations and obtained his “Dolphins” and many ribbons and medals for his and his shipmates efforts including the US Navy Expeditionary Medal. On board the ship he received multiple injuries and is a service related disabled veteran.
